The Jeep Cherokee is a line of popular SUVs built by Jeep over five generations. Initially a variant of the Jeep Wagoneer. The Cherokee has evolved from a full-size SUV to a compact SUV, and now a crossover SUV. It was named after the Cherokee tribe of Native Americans and was introduced in 1974. The Cherokee (XJ) was manufactured and marketed across a single generation from 1983 to 2001. The Liberty (KJ) was produced from 2002 to 2007, and the Liberty (KK) was made as its successor from 2008 to 2012. In other markets, Liberty was marketed as Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee (KL) is a compact crossover SUV introduced in 2014 and sold untill 2024.
