RS6
The Audi RS6 is a high performance variant of the Audi A6 range. It was produced by the high performance subsidiary company Audi Sport GmbH. Audi AG, a division of the VW Group.
The first and second versions of the RS 6 were offered in both Avant and saloon forms. The third and fourth generations are only offered as an Avant.
The 2002 RS6 generation from Audi became the first car in the German manufacturer’s model range to be equipped with its innovative Dynamic Ride Control suspension.
Other interesting features included an improved quattro permanent 4WD system, a high tech brake system (based on the ones used in motor sports) and a specially-developed 4.2L V8 unit delivering 450 bhp. This new model was assembled at the in Germany by both Audi AG and quattro GmbH. It was based on the Volkswagen Group C5 platform. It was designed to challenge BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG on the mid size sports executive car sector.
